"I am so lucky to have found this place and to have it as my primary dental provider and after all of the positive experiences here. I am keeping it. To begin, it's a very clean facility and well kept, they have beverages in the lobby if you want to make a coffee or tea while you wait, they also have flexible timeframes for scheduling, and work to accommodate your schedule and are patient with you when you have to cancel or reschedule. For hectic schedules, they also follow up with appointments by sending reminder text messages and phone calls, which are very helpful so that you dont forget your appointment.Last but not least what keeps me coming here is the staff. The staff are very friendly/down to earth, relatable and professional (they are very competent, knowledgeable about dental care and know what they're doing),plus they really make you feel at home from the beginning to end, even during the dental procedure, they make the experience painless and full of fun and overall positive. After leaving the office not only will you feel good because you took care of your health but you will feel energized and able to continue your day or break up your week with a positive attitude, all because of the staff and the experience that they provided at Seda Dental Pinecrest. I highly reccommend Seda Dental of Pinecrest with a special shootout to Dr. Ronald Jarquin, Wilber Hygienist, Raul Assistant and Daina Office manager. Most commonly, gums grafts are needed to repair gum recession caused by periodontal (gum) disease. Your gumline may be visibly higher, and your gums may pull away from your teeth. The exposed tooth roots may lead to increased sensitivity. Other reasons that might cause or contribute to gum recession are brushing your teeth aggressively or with a poor technique, chronic teeth grinding (bruxism) or jaw clenching, and misaligned teeth. In some cases, oral piercings (lip or tongue) can irritate the gums and cause recession. During your consultation, we will assess your gums and determine if you are a good candidate for gum grafting.
What To Expect
There are different kinds of gum grafts that will be selected based on your particular condition. Connective-tissue grafts are the most common type used to correct root exposure. This involves making an incision in the roof of your mouth to create a small flap of skin. The special connective tissue is removed from inside the flap and attached to your gums. A free gingival graft is similar except that more tissue is used from the roof of the mouth to increase particularly thin gums. The third procedure is a pedicle graft that takes excess gum tissue from one area to wherever you need coverage. During your consultation, we will guide you to the best graft for your needs and goals.
You can go home after the procedure, but you should rest for a few days. You will also need to have someone drive you home if you were given oral or intravenous sedation. We will go over your recovery instructions, including what to eat, what to avoid, and any medications you need to take. You may feel some pain or discomfort for a while after your procedure, which may be reduced with cold compresses and over-the-counter pain medication. To avoid damaging the grafts, you should not brush or floss while your gums are healing. We will recommend a rinse to keep your mouth clean. You may need to return for a follow-up appointment so we can monitor your healing and progress.
If you have dental insurance, a member of our team will contact your provider and confirm your benefits. For out-of-pocket costs after dental insurance and for patients without dental insurance, SEDA Dental of Pinecrest accepts many payment methods. During your consultation, we can go over your estimated costs. We can also tell you about low-interest medical financing to make your gum grafting more affordable.
